Annunzio Paolo Mantovani (Italian: [an?nuntsjo ?pa?olo manto?va?ni]; 15 November 1905 ? 30 March 1980) [1] was an Italian British conductor composer and light orchestra ?styled entertainer with a cascading strings musical signature.

 

Diesen typischen Mantovani-Sound hatte man für einen amerikanischen Auftrag zur Produktion langsamer Walzer entwickelt und er wurde Mantovanis Markenzeichen. Der wohl größte Erfolg in diesem Stil war im Jahr 1951 der von Ernö Rapée und Lew Pollack komponierte Instrumentaltitel Charmaine.

 

A quintessential Mantovani arrangement of "Summer Night" was stunning and the "My Fair Lady" medley of three numbers from the award winning show was much admired. Another highlight was the gorgeous "Song of India" complete with turbaned percussionist and an introductory gong operated by Dave Osland in full Indian regalia setting the scene.
